A Contemporary Cape Cod
An opulent master suite is one of the highlights of this new home

See large photo This brand new home was designed for modern living with the detailing and style of the past. The interior was finished with modern colors, textures and furnishings to blend with the traditional style of the architecture.

This blending of old and new is highlighted in the master suite. The plan features are a large master bedroom, a discreet dressing area, and a generous master bath. The details are reminiscent of the period, but the colors are kept contemporary and fresh. For a sense of regal opulence, the period detailing throughout the suite includes heavy trim work such as tall baseboards, thick picture-frame casings at windows, and sculpted ceilings with double crown moldings.

The details in the dressing area include built-in cabinetry with doors that are feminine with raised panels and a rich layered laquered finish. The bath has crisp white tile at the vanity top, the tub, and the shower that is romantically trimmed with rope details. Throughout the suite, color and paint are used to great effect, and reinforce the character of each room. The sum of these rooms is a fanciful suite that is opulent and contemporary.

The remainder of the home was finished with the same attention to detail. The living room has understated trim with vibrant wall color. The dining room retains the formality of a traditional home, yet has very modern furnishings and a geometric wall treatment. The kitchen is designed for modern living with finishes that are natural in color and texture.
