A bathroom that combines fun detailing and sophisticated finishes
Our clients were looking to transform a standard bath designed for one into a spirited bath for their two young children. The adjacent bedrooms were rearranged to make the bath larger, and the finishes were chosen with a sense of humor while maintaining the sophisticated style throughout the rest of the home.
The bath is designed to accommodate two children with a double vanity, a corner tub basin for more floor area and easy bathing for a toddler, and a separate water closet for privacy as the children get older. The basin also adds a bit of turn-of-the-century character, recalling older porcelain tubs and their curved curtain rods.
The palate of textures and colors is fun and avoids childishness. The materials are durable and rich: quarry tile floor for color and texture, honed travertine counter tops to withstand daily wear, and a colorful tile pattern that includes a metallic lizard. Tropical, lush, and bright, this bath is a fun place to start the day.
